Itinerary

Your African safari adventure begins with a drive from Nairobi to Kenya's central highlands. As you enter Samburu National Reserve, you will be treated to breathtaking views of Mount Kenya. You will go on your first game drive after arriving and checking in your lodge followed by lunch. There are some rare species in Samburu, including beisa oryx, blue-necked somali ostrich, Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, and a large population of elephants that spend their time by the mighty Ewaso Nyiro River. Following your first game drive into the Kenyan plains, you will return to your lodge or camp for dinner and a chance to refuel before your first full day on safari in Kenya.

After breakfast, you will head out into the park on the lookout for the rare and wonderful animals you’d searched for the previous evening. Named after the local volcanic peak, Samburu is a diverse habitat with riverine forests, palm groves, and grasslands home to millions of animals. With four fresh water springs around the park, chances of seeing grazing animals is high, with hippo encounters a distinct possibility. Your expert African safari guide will be able to help track and identify the wildlife you encounter.

Your morning drive takes you to Ol Pejeta Conservancy, a place where wild animals are protected from those who would harm them for their horns. Here you'll find the world's largest sanctuary for black rhinos, as well as Kenya's only chimpanzee sanctuary. The sanctuary, run by the renowned Jane Goodall Institute, allows you to interact with our closest relatives. You'll arrive in time for lunch, rest, and an afternoon game drive at this wonderful sanctuary for endangered animals. As you return to camp for dinner, the sun will be setting over the plains and watering holes.

An early breakfast is followed by a morning game drive around Ol Pejeta, with another opportunity to see the protected animals that inhabit the Laikipia Plateau. You'll leave the park and travel through the countryside to continue your Kenyan safari in Aberdares National Park, where you'll arrive in time for lunch. Aberdares offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity to visit tree lodges for bird watching; the park is home to over 250 bird species. Before dinner, a late-night floodlit game viewing from your accommodation's viewing decks follows.

Breakfast is served early to allow you to return to the park for another game drive. Once you've had the opportunity to see wildlife such as Lions, Elephants, Leopards, Jackals, Waterbucks, and others. You'll begin your journey across the East African Rift Valley, arriving in time for lunch at Lake Nakuru National Park. Lake Nakuru is well-known for its Pink Lake, so named because of the massive flocks of flamingos that feed on the algae that gives them their distinctive magenta hues. The park is home to both black and white rhinos, and your wildlife safari guide will assist you in finding, watching, and photographing this sadly endangered mammal.

After breakfast, you will leave Lake Nakuru and travel through the Great Rift Valley until you reach the Maasai Mara. You'll get there in time for lunch, then go on a game drive in the afternoon. If you're fortunate enough to travel during the migrations, which take place between July and October, you'll be rewarded with the sight of animals migrating across these undulating plains in herds. The Maasai Mara will treat you to the best that an African safari has to offer, and more than you could have imagined, regardless of the time of year.

The Maasai Mara, which is home to more than 3 million animals, is where safari fantasies are made. After breakfast, you will spend the rest of the day tracking the animals that live in these grasslands, such as lions, leopards, elephants, buffalos, rhinos, and numerous other mammal and bird species. In order to give you as much time as possible to enjoy this most beautiful of natural habitats, your lunch will be served picnic-style. Watch out for hippos swimming in the Mara River, herds of wildebeest, and Thompson's and Grant's gazelles, all of which your Kenyan safari guide will be able to identify with ease. The day comes to an end back at your lodging, where you eat dinner and take in the sights and sounds of your day in the Maasai Mara.

The day begins with breakfast, and on a morning game drive, you will have the opportunity to bid the Serengeti's beasts farewell. After arriving at Lake Naivasha for lunch, you have the option of taking a boat ride (extra cost) on the lake in the late afternoon to see some of the lake's more delicate but no less beautiful fauna. There are going to be a lot of herbivores on this trip to Crescent Island. This lake is home to a stunning variety of birds as well as zebras, hippos, and giraffes. You'll be served dinner when you get back to the hotel before going to bed inside this nature reserve.

On your ninth morning, a drive through the Great African Rift Valley with heart-melting views is in store for you. Today's journey to the Amboseli will be long and smooth. Your trip in this region of Kenya will be set against the mountain, which is the highest mountain in Africa and the highest free-standing mountain in the world. With your knowledgeable guide, you will spend the entire day spotting the wildlife. The massive-fauna that this region of the world is known for, will be all around you as you enjoy a picnic lunch in the park. Elephant families roam the landscape, buffalo herds migrate in search of food, and predators circle in search of their next meal. Following a long day in the park, you will return to your camp for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, check out and enjoy the drive to Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary for one more encounter with nature. You will be staying at the renowned Saltlick Safari Lodge, one of Kenya's premier lodges and one of the most photographed in the world. Salt Lick Safari Lodge is a popular choice among tourists looking for luxurious accommodation. This safari vacation is located in the Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary and overlooks a waterhole and the vast Tsavo plains. Enjoy a late-afternoon game drive in the sanctuary before heading back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay. You might even see some animals approaching nearby watering holes in search of a drink from the pools near the lodge.

After breakfast, check out and take another drive to Tsavo East Park, which is more arid than Tsavo West and has arid bush and rock outcrops like the 1.6 km-long Mudanda Rock outcrop. This park is bordered by the lava flows from the magnificent Yatta plateau, which is about 290 km long. The Lugards Falls on the Galana River, a series of rapids, meander through the park. The park is traversed by the Athi River, which rises in Nairobi. After lunch, take a game drive in the afternoon to look for wild animals like buffalo, lions, leopards, hippopotamuses, crocodiles, waterbucks, lesser kudus, and hirola antelopes. Dinner and overnight in your lodge.
